Landslide
Public Installation. Printed PVC/galvanized zinc structure
6.40 x 6.20 x 4.00 m
2019
13th Havana Biennial as part of the Official Project “Behind the Wall III”
The entire process of working on this piece until its culmination is divided into two stages: research and execution of the piece. First, a survey was carried out among students, young and proficient artists, art critics and curators based on answering the following question:
In your opinion which should be the role of art institutions when it comes to assuming and promoting the work of a young artist?
Based on this question, Alud is born from an internal conflict that makes me reconsider where the new generations are heading to, the uncertain future in the world of art and with what circumstances young artists are bound to interact. This wrinkled, discarded gesture will be an echo of a generation, of the uncertainty that at some point we all feel about what is possible in the process of searching and building while trying to develop ourselves.
It turns out to be a survey aimed at the world of art, a thermometric exercise that takes the pulse mediated by institutions (personalities, directors, art teaching institutes, galleries, market, etc.). By exposing this theme, the conceptual discourse is expanded beyond the origin, as it inexorably touches points of a circumstantial reality that converge in this discipline.
