The appointment
Digital printing, glued and burned matches and acrylic/canvas
120 x 100 cm
2020
The parity expressed by two bodies that merge in a power given to each other…a necessary support, levitating in the balance of a landscape made of glued and burned materials.
I think of the traces that fire leaves in its wake, of the rituals around it as a symbol of power and protection; of meditation based on the observation of nature and its continuous restoration in the face of aggressions that transform it. That is life itself, marked by the challenges of existence, the mere act of living and having a time in which you can create your own passage through this world, leave your own footprint.
Fire is for me a form of purification and at the same time it borders on danger, that’s how I am all the time, in a search between feeling at ease and comfortable with what I do and, on the other hand, taking me to the extremes of creation through challenges. It is the salt of life.
An appointment is the baptism of an existence; when you name, you designate; like the medieval knightly rituals where, kneeling, the warrior surrenders, accepts a belonging that is given to him. When this naming is mutual, then it designates an existence given in parity.
